Higher Education Initiative

In support of 2003 California legislation, the Children’s Fund has been working with high schools and colleges on the local and national level.

Locally, work is proceeding with the Community Colleges in Santa Clara County and with San Jose State University to build and sustain capacity on college campuses and to prepare high school juniors and seniors for college.

Nationally, the Children’s Fund hosts the Blueprint Conference, which provides practical guidance on “how to” build capacity for foster youth on college campuses. As part of this initiative, the Children’s Fund is developing success criteria and measurements to ensure foster youth the same opportunities and success rates as their peers.
