Advocacy & Education Policy

The Children’s Fund advocates with other organizations to expand the educational infrastructure that is vital to the success of foster youth. Our partner organizations include the Juvenile Court System, the County Office of Education (COE), the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and our local colleges and universities.

Current initiatives

Juvenile Court Education Partnership. All members of this committee concerned with foster children are working to promote collaboration among various organizations to address foster youth educational needs. This task force is working to improve educational outcomes for foster youth through closure in the achievement gap, increased opportunities for post-secondary education, exposure to career/employment opportunities and preparation for transition out of care.

Higher Education Initiative. The Fund works with colleges to ensure they meet the needs of foster youth.
