Middle School Education Court

The transition to middle school is difficult for all young people, but more so for foster youth. While middle school years are the most critical time for children to achieve at -grade level literacy, research shows that foster youth fall behind. Middle School Education Court (MSEC) improves educational support for foster youth in middle school because their future success depends on it. The MSEC team is comprised of dedicated professionals--lawyers, social workers, education specialists, child advocates, school district liaisons and community leaders collaborating to ensure students are in an appropriate learning environment and are receiving educational services needed to maximize their academic potential.

“The Silicon Valley Children's Fund continues to be a luminary that, together with the Courts, has brought to light the needs of our foster children."
